Sunde Engineering performed site design work for the second open-air retail “lifestyle center” constructed in Minnesota. This site is comprised of approximately 398,000 sq. ft. of retail space, with associated parking, roadways, and drives, situated upon a 56-acre lot. Innovative stormwater management design allowed for more useable land area while providing stormwater quality and runoff quantity control. This was accomplished by use of large, underground infiltration basins located beneath site parking areas. During construction, temporary stormwater runoff basins were designed to minimize impacts upon adjacent an adjacent stream and wetlands. Over 20,000 linear feet of storm sewer piping was installed and eight underground infiltration basins with an extent of 3.55 acres were constructed as part of this project. In addition, over 5,000 linear feet of sanitary sewer and over 10,500 linear feet of water line were installed.
